Vacation Day 9!

SNOW!! This morning (June 7th) we woke up to snow. Only a little drizzle so I didn't think anything of it, and being the mom of the year I told Madison that she should be okay in capri's and a short sleeve shirt and shoes with no socks since we were going to be driving around in the car for most of the day-only getting out for a few minutes at a time. Needless to say-when we got to Yellowstone and saw the signs that we needed to have snow tires or chains I knew we were in for a treat! We drove towards Old Faithful-getting out for a few picture ops. Once we got to Old Faithful it was at its peak of going off-so we decided instead of waiting outside in the 32 degrees windy weather we would head over to the gift shop and look around. While inside it starting snowing so hard that it was snowing sideways. We decided to eat an early (hot) lunch and try and make it for the next irruption-again we got there just as it was going off. I took a few pictures, but with the snow and very low clouds you really can't tell what it's a picture of. So we thought we would try and walk around for a little while, but Zach had a different idea. We headed inside to sit by the fire and have some hot chocolate. By this time it was snowing so hard that you couldn't see Old Faithful at all. We decided to head back to the car and do some more site seeing in hopes that the weather tomorrow will be better. Just so you know how hard it was snowing there was at least an inch-maybe two of snow on the hood of the car. We drove around and saw buffalo (even one walking down the road) and lots of Elk. We also went to Madison, (which Madison thought was really cool) we saw some hot springs, waterfalls, and a few other smaller geysers. We tried to make the most of the day with the weather-I wish we could of had more opportunities to get out and look around. Tonight we drove to MONTANA!!! (which Bobby claims is the lost Garden of Eden) and amazingly the sun was shining and the temperature rose to a very comfortable 51 degrees. We went out to dinner and just got back to the room. Bobby took both kids swimming and I'm about to join them. Hopefully they will be tired enough to sleep good tonight-we have a long day ahead of us.
