Nan's new yard

A couple of weekends ago while we were helping Nan move in Sheri voiced some concern she had regarding Nan's privacy. They haven't started building the houses behind hers and she wanted to make sure that when they do the workers couldn't look into her backyard. So we decided to do what I did in my backyard-put in a couple of Crepe Myrtles. Then the project started-just planting 5 Crepe Myrtles led to a 48'x6' flower bed. This is just phase one of the project. So Saturday Bobby, Zach & I headed to College station with a truck full of plants and tools to work on the yard. (Madison was at HS Musical on Ice with her Brownie Troop) We started about noon on Saturday and worked until about 6:30 or so before stopping for dinner. Hoping that we would have this project finished all we had done is pull all the grass up and lay the 1st of 4 yards of soil. We headed back home to get Madison and hear about HS Musical (I'll let her post when she's home from school about the program). Sunday morning we headed back out to College Station to finish putting out the soil and to work on the front flower bed, plant the 5 Crepe Myrtles, 20 knock out roses, 2 climbing roses, and 1 fig tree, mow the yard and put out fertilizer. The back looks great! Nan wanted to put out her bird bath-which we started, but she's going back out to her old house to get some rocks to go around it. Her house is really coming together nicely. I'm sure she was ready for us all to go back home so she could rest!
